Matt Lamb
American/Irish, 1933–2012
Matt Lamb was an American painter best known for his monumental abstract works. Often spanning the length of an entire wall, Lamb’s paintings are expressively rendered with thick, rough brushstrokes in contrasting color schemes, frequently featuring the suggestion of child-like imagery and figures. Self-described as an attempt to spread a personal message of peace, tolerance, hope, communication, and love amongst men, Lamb’s practice is shaped by his personal history.
Spending his early adulthood working at a prominent family-operated chain of funeral parlors, he suffered from a misdiagnosis and numerous health problems that influenced his outlook and artwork.
